4 Tips To Burn More Fat

Yesterday was my first day back at the gym since my trip to Thailand, I had an amazing time and managaed to write over 250 pages of cutting edge information about transforming your body in the most inspirational setting imaginable. I will definately like to go back, but shuush I haven’t told Kerry yet 🙂   Since I’ve been back I’ve been chatting to people who have been looking to transform their bodies and I recently had a conversation with someone who told me they were trying to lose weight.

He said he only wanted to lose 14lbs but had been struggling with it for years. He said that he’d lose 5lbs then gain 6lb and it would yo-yo up and down like this for years.

He said that as he got older he found it more difficult to lose the weight and said that his metabolism had slowed down.

As a personal trainer specializing in fat loss I hear this all the time. “I hardly eat all day and still I can’t lose weight”

Every time I hear this I want to slap the person up side their head because probably the biggest mistake someone can make if they are trying to lose weight. But alas, it’s not their fault because the big diet companies have been lying them to for years.

To cut a long story short, this is what I told my friend.

1.Build Muscle. Think of your body like a car, the muscle you have is the engine of your body. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism. So to increase your metabolism you need to increase your muscle tissue. Try performing a 5-exercise body weight circuit such as squats, press ups, lunges, rows and get ups. Do 10 reps of each and do as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes. By doing this you will not only build leaned toned muscles but by performing your exercises in a circuit you will boost your metabolism for hours after which in turn will burn more fat. Just remember to work hard.

2.Eat More. Every time you eat you increase your metabolic rate. By eating foods containing protein at every meal you will burn more calories as protein is harder for your body to digest than carbs or fat. It will also keep you fuller longer.

3.Eat breakfast. Eating breakfast kick starts your metabolism after the nightly fast. To not eat breakfast is like getting in your car and trying to go somewhere with an empty petrol tank, it’s just not going to happen.

4.Increase The Intensity Of Your Workouts: Long duration cardio may burn more fat calories during the session but once the workout is over there is no boost in calorie burn. Ramping up the intensity of your workouts by doing short all out efforts will not only burn more total calories during the session it will also elevate your metabolism afterwards due to the increased demands for oxygen that hard training causes.

There you go guys, 4 tips to help boost your metabolism. Each one on their own can have a significant effect on your metabolism but by combining all four you will increase your body’s fat burning potential.
