3 Fast Fitness Tips

Whether you’ve been working out like a machine for a while or you’re just taking your first steps towards a fitter healthier lifestyle sooner of later you’re going to hit what they call the “dreaded plateau”

So, today I thought I’d share three quick tips to help you keep moving forwards towards your health and fitness goals.

Tip #1: Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

If you’re new to fitness then you’re probably already out of your comfort zone. The same can be said for regular gym goers. You do the same exercise for the same reps with the same weight and expect change. Or you run the same route at the same speed over and over.

Once you’re body is used to a certain doing the same thing it becomes easy for it, and thus your results slow or stop altogether.

This can be frustrating and make you want to quit. But a few tweaks can spark your body onto a new level.

So instead of running the same route at the same speed, try adding in some hill sprints, or sprinting between lamp posts. Even running the same route in the other direction can make a difference. If you do the same exercises in the same order in the gym, try mixing the order around. Do the last exercise first etc.

Tip #2: Train With A Partner

Having a training partner does two things. It helps keep you committed to your training programme when you have days when you feel like curling up on the couch with a bottle of wine. Knowing that there’s someone waiting for you at the gym can be enough for you to get out of the house when you don’t feel like it. Another benefit of having a training partner is that you can encourage and push each other to new levels.

Tip #3: Lose Control

A lot of people like to design their own training programmes, which is great. However there is a danger that you end up doing the same exercises over and over because you like them. Trouble with that is that you end up neglecting certain body parts or worse, you end up with niggling overuse injuries that can set your training back. So, consider hiring a personal exercise coach to design you a programme specific to your goals. Or why not enrol on a group fitness programme specific to your goals. That way you can be in a group of like minded people who are all working towards the same thing.
